The Southern Saskatchewan Area Service Committee is created by and responsible to the Narcotics Anonymous groups in the Southern Saskatchewan Area. Area Service’s primary purpose is to support the groups in the Area to spread the message of NA to addicts who still suffer. All the work of Area Service and all the dealings among its members, including its subcommittees, are guided by the SSASC Guidelines, A Guide to Local Services in Narcotics Anonymous, the Twelve Traditions of Narcotics Anonymous, and the Twelve Concepts for NA Service. The SSASC provides the following services:
Hospitals and Institutions: The primary purpose of the Hospitals and Institutions Subcommittee is to carry the message of recovery to individuals in facilities such as correctional institutions and treatment centers who do not have regular access to NA meetings in the community.
Outreach: The Outreach Subcommittee’s primary purpose is to help new groups with getting started and helping established groups improve their connections to the larger NA fellowship. Outreach also provides support to institutional meetings to which the occupants (clients) have access to outside meetings.
Public Relations: Primary purpose is to organize members of Narcotics Anonymous for arranged speaking engagements and providing information about our program to the community. Get current meeting lists from the SSASC Document Library
Phone Line: The Phone Line Subcommittee establishes and maintains a working telephone number so that addicts in the Southern Saskatchewan Area seeking recovery are able to speak to trusted servants of Area Service and receive information about meetings and other N.A Services. For more information see: Contact Us
Activities: The Activities Subcommittee organizes events – i.e. dances, picnics, campouts, special speakers meetings, etc. – primarily to enhance the sense of community in the N.A. fellowship in the Southern Saskatchewan Area, and secondarily to raise funds to help carry the message of N.A.
